We have various volunteer opportunities available at Adelaide Northern Horse Riding.
Volunteers can be aged 8 - 80 (or even older..) with the type of activity tailored to suit their level of skill and experience.
Volunteers get to spend a lot of time working with horses as they build their knowledge and confidence in a multitude of areas.
Weekends - Day or half day
This is a great way for horse lovers to spend their day: doing some chores such as manure pickup,
but also building their skills working with the horses.
The volunteer is happy because they get to spend all day with horses for no cost.
Parents are happy knowing their kids are getting some good outdoor exercise, are occupied for the day, learning skills, and the cost is zero.
We are happy because we have people helping prepare horses for lessons, looking after
the horses after lessons and doing some manure pickup chores.
- Bring horses in for lessons.
- Brush and prepare horses.
- Tack up horses.
- Lead horses in lessons to assist beginners.
- Untack horses after lessons.
- Brush down, wash, give water, rug horses.
- Take horses back to paddocks.
- Pick up manure in arenas, yards / stable areas.
At the end of the day volunteers can have a free ride on one of the school horses
(if it hasn't been used in too many lessons).
For in-experienced riders, they can be led around by another volunteer.
For experienced riders, they can have a quiet ride in the arena's or around the property.
Please note that the free ride is not a lesson, and the rider is responsible for looking after the horse
and putting the horse away after the ride.
Horse Riding / Education
We have various horses that are being educated for possible use in the riding school.
We also have other horses that are not suitable for the school, but need working so they
can find a new home.
This opportunity is for very experienced riders only, after their skills have been assessed by Michelle.
